What is a CTalk phone?
CTalk phone is a VoIP Softphone which is an Internet telephone that allows you to make phone calls to any landline or mobile phone in the world via the Internet. What is special about the CTalk phone is that, unlike other internet phones, it allows you to make high quality reliable international calls using very little bandwidth. So you can use it where internet speeds are low or where internet is in high demand. The phone has been designed to make low-cost international calls, much like a calling card, but with much lower rates and no hidden charges.

How does an internet phone work?
Traditional telephones use phone lines that run back to your local telephone exchange to make phone calls. When you call someone, your local phone exchange sends the call to the phone exchange nearest the person you are calling. When you make a call using CTalk, your voice is first turned into digital packets which can be used by your computer. These packets are then sent over the Internet from your computer to the ConceroTel Network (where the packets are turned back into voice) and then to the destination’s telephone exchange. From there it goes to the destination number. Your CTalk phone will find the ConceroTel Network from anywhere in the world as long as you can get an Internet connection.

How can CTalk save me money?
CTalk calls are much cheaper than calls through landlines or mobiles.
Why use an internet phone?
Firstly, because it's cheaper! There are other advantages as well - there's no line rental and your number travels with you.
Why are internet phones cheaper than landline or mobile phones?
Since our calls are sent over the internet, rather than using the traditional phone network, we can offer much cheaper call rates that we pass onto our customers.

How is CTalk different from other internet phones?
Although other internet phones appear to be free, they cost you a lot because they use a lot of internet bandwidth. CTalk phone uses about 1kB/s and sounds like a normal phone!
The calls from the other internet phones are often choppy with lots of echo. Is it frustrating and you wouldn’t use them for business calls. CTalk phone provides Carrier quality audio so it sounds like a normal phone.
Other internet phones can’t be used everywhere. They can’t be used where internet access is poor or in high demand, like airports. CTalk phone is designed for use in places with Minimal Internet Bandwidth.
Other internet phones can’t be used with a dial-up connection. CTalk is one of the few that can!
What speed internet connection do I need to use CTalk?
Compared with other internet phones the CTalk phone uses very low amount of bandwidth, approximately 1kB/s. If you're on a call with CTalk phone for an hour, you'll use about 4MB of bandwidth.

Can I use CTalk through a dialup connection?
Yes, the CTalk phone works perfectly well with a dial-up connection. However we recommend a minimum speed of 28 kbps. You may want to close down all other programs while you’re on a call to keep the voice quality high.
Can I use CTalk anywhere in the world?
Yes! You can make calls from anywhere in the world, as well as log into your account to top-up credit etc. Calls will be charged at the advertised rates regardless where you are calling from.
Can anyone call me on my CTalk phone?
Not at the moment. We hope to be able to offer this service in the future.

Can I call any landline or mobile from my CTalk phone?
Yes, if you have credit in your account. We offer a comprehensive list of calling rates to most countries around the world. There are no charges for unanswered or busy calls. You are charged per second, unlike calling cards that have a minimum call charge or flag fall.
Do I still need my existing landline phone?
Currently you will still need to keep your landline phone to receive calls and to call emergency numbers - however, you could downgrade to a cheaper plan and make all your outgoing calls via CTalk!

Can I use the same account in several places at the same time?
A CTalk account can only be active at one point on our network at one time. So if you're logged in on one PC, you can't be logged in with the same account on another PC.
Can I browse the web while using CTalk?
Yes! The CTalk phone is a low-bandwidth application, so it should not interfere with typical
web use.
Can I dial emergency numbers such as 000 through CTalk?
No. Please use your landline or mobile phone for all emergency calls. We cannot guarantee connections to the emergency services.
